Lifelong learning and promotion of excellence in 'retirement'

Screen capture image of my new 'Alison Mann's Yoga for Herefordshire Weekly Class Schedule' Web Log
for Kundalini Yoga Teacher Alison Mann in Herefordshire

My blogging has taken on a new leash of life this past week, by helping my Kundalini Yoga teacher friend Alison Mann with her business promotion and outreach, via
https://alisonsyogashire.blogspot.com/

I'd noticed that Alison was experiencing difficulties updating her Paths To Wellbeing website and offered to lend a hand via blogging that would not require me to have access to her log-on stuff for her own website, and cost her nothing. (Meanwhile, she gets very involved in Facebook connections.) She accepted my offer gladly and with trust.

I've acquired digital skills via home computing with aid of manuals, and while there are layout problems such as getting 'Herefordshire' to fit into one line of text in the right hand 'side-bar' as shown above, I can work on the design aspects at my leisure and help a friend who lacks those skills focus on her main task that is Yoga and Ayruvedic Massage.

Alison's business mission is helping to bring Yoga and Ayurvedic Masssage throughout Herefordshire.

I end this blog post with my poetic rendition from 1982 of what was presented to me in 1979 as an ancient Korean folk tale or moral fable.

Talking Heaven & Hell

There was someone so charitably wise
That their earthly deeds led them to Paradise;
But they asked before staying to dwell therein,
That they could inspect the Land of Sin.

In a Hellish Pit, a Cauldron heaped with food
Was surrounded by a starving multitude;
So he asked his guide, "How can it be
That the people here dwell in such misery —

"In that Cauldron, there is food a-plenty
Yet the people round it have stomachs empty?"

"The answer is simple, the landlord said.
The people here are never fed;
And to feed themselves, they're given long chopsticks;
But that still leaves them in an awful fix!

"For the chopsticks reach just inside the bowl,
But they can't deliver the food for their mouths to hold;
Before they can deliver it to their lips,
It leaves the chopsticks and in the pit it slips."

Heaven's Cauldron was of like situation
But the people there didn't suffer from starvation;
They were happy, radiant, and healthily strong —
Though they, too, had chopsticks that were thin and long.

The reason they didn't suffer from starvation
Is inherent in the Law of Compensation:
They had discovered, through feeding each other,
The way to avoid a lot of bother.

A Kundalini Yoga Workshop by Alison Mann
9 November 20019, 14:30-17:30 (2:30pm-5:30pm)
@ The Hub, St Peters Church, Peterchurch HR2 0RT
Alan writes: I find the energy interchange of receiving Kundalini Yoga through Alison Mann, alongside Kirtan Devotional Chanting with Katrina Surya Kalkwarf,  has a dynamic impact on my creativity as I continue learning to play Ukulele and Singing at Music Plus Ltd, Herefordshire, and also use Serif Page Plus X9 Desktop Publishing software. I devised the above leaflet cover design from the energy interchange I receive through that Kundalini Yoga (KY).

The central motif of Artistic Text curved in the form of an @ symbol represents the snake like flexibility of the spine as an energy conveyer that KY aims at, and also emphasises that The Hub in Peterchurch that has been a backdrop to her Monday mornings and lunchtime Yoga delivery is a mainstay and place where great and transforming energy exchanges can take place.

Over now to Alison:

KUNDALINI YOGA (KY) WORKSHOP CONTENT

Within this workshop we will sit (chairs can be provided) and chant the GURU RAM DAS MANTRA for 31 minutes.

MANTRA: GURU RAM DAS MANTRA: This mantra relates directly to healing and protective energy represented by Guru Ram Das. The mantra is comprised of two parts.

1.    The nirgun mantra used (“Guru Guru Wahe [pronounced ‘Wahay’] Guru”) projects the mind to the source of knowledge and ecstasy.
2.    The Sirgun mantra used (”Guru Ram Das Guru”). This means the wisdom that comes as a servant of the infinite. It is the mantra of humility. It reconnects the experience of the finite to infinity.

Bring Peace to a Chaotic World by Healing Your Ancestors. Within this workshop we will delve deeper into Jappa Mantra. Jap means continuous, calm,meditative recitation of a mantra  within Sangat (Group Energy).

So lets heal together and vibrate further afield to the Planet.

The Physical Body - 5th Body of our Ten Bodies. With this Kriya we will work with the process of self-healing, which is the "privilege of every being. Self healing is not a miracle. Self-healing is the genuine process of relationship between the physical and the infinite power of the Soul," says Yogi Bhajan.

A light tea will be served. Yogi tea, nuts and Vegan cake. Please inform me if you have any allergies.
Please bring a cushion/blanket, mat if you have one. Mats can be provided, if you do not have one.

Concessions are available, please do ask and  contact me.  Yoga is Union, and is for everyBODY.

KY is a Spiritual practice but not religious. It is a completely hands OFF practice to allow you to go within your energy field, undisturbed.

Physical comfort: Please allow a few hours for food to settle before starting, and wear comfortable clothing,

The Hub has underfloor heating, and is warm, still, bring a blanket for relaxation and meditation.

Sat 9th Nov 14.30 - 17.30.
Energy exchange £25 - Concessions are available. Please ask.

Sat Nam (Yoga greeting and closing salutation meaning ‘True Identity’/Inner guru to inner guru.)

Alison Mann: Yoga is Union and is for everyBody,

Alison Mann helps Herefordians empower themselves with Yogic Breathing

Alison Mann: Deep and rhythmic yogic
breathing calms and invigorates us.
It's a drum beat for the dance of life.

(This post was originally published Thursday 8 August 2019. My republishing it now serves as a counterpoint to our state of having someone I did not vote for imposing his style of 'Nanny State' on the electorate. Yogic Breathing is empowering)

I've just returned home from a 7am to 8am Kundalini Yoga class at Clear Space Studios, Hereford, HR4 9BX with Alison Mann of Paths to Wellbeing.

Among other things, these classes are a great aperitif or physical and mental warm-up for my one-to-one Ukulele and singing class later today at Music Plus, 30 Union Street, Hereford HR1 2BT. Like Alison, my teacher at Music Plus Ltd is great, very inspiring, and emphasises the importance of breathing deeply and rhythmically.

In celebration of both, I take the opportunity to share here an animated text image I've been working on with and for Alison. (To get this animation to replay, press the 'refresh' button of your Internet browser program.)

Yoga is one form of Ayurvedic ('Life Knowledge') Medicine; Alison also delivers Ayurvedic Massage.
